What’s Acara Mia Wearing?

First U.S. based Magazine Dedicated to
High-End Children’s Fashion

Acara Mia Group launches Acara Mia Magazine

SAN FRANCISCO – Dec. 2008 – Acara Mia Magazine, the first and only magazine dedicated primarily to high-end fashion for infants through 10 years old announced today that it has launched its online version. Regular sections of the magazine include “Children’s Fashion,” detailing fashion trends, tips and interviews with children’s fashion designers, “Generation Green,” covering eco-friendly and organic clothing and beauty products, and “Fashionspired,” covering fashion-inspired strollers, gear, toys, books and accessories and 20 under $20, which includes stylish clothing at lower price points. The current issue features an interview with celebrity designer, Lisa Wu-Hartwell, of Real Housewives of Atlanta and owner of Hart 2 Hart, a unique children’s fashion line and XX and XX, XX of Lelli Kelly Shoes. Acara Mia Magazine also announced today a child model search, where members of the site can send in their child’s photo to win a prize package that includes a photo shoot to be featured in an upcoming issue of Acara Mia Magazine and a gift certificate from upscale children’s boutique, Jean et Marie, among other prizes.

In each issue, the magazine will also include articles on The Best Children’s Boutiques and Child-friendly Shopping in a featured city. Acara Mia Magazine editors will travel the U.S. searching for the best children’s boutiques and child-friendly department stores in major cities. The first issue focuses on San Francisco.

The children’s apparel market is estimated to be $147 billion by 2010, with a large number of celebrity designers and high-end fashion houses all entering the market with their own children’s lines. Major fashion houses like Gucci, Dior, Prada, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Burberry, Fendi and recently announced Gaultier, all have lines dedicated to children.

“Children’s fashion has evolved exponentially in the last ten years. People are planning families later in life, leaving more time to develop their careers and establish more comfortable lifestyles,” said Jen Trent, co-founder of Acara Mia Magazine. “In addition, grandparent’s spending on their grandchildren is expected to spend $30 billion by 2012. These factors all contribute to an increase in spending on children’s apparel.”

As part of the launch, Acara Mia Magazine has teamed up with upscale children’s boutique, Jean et Marie in San Francisco to sponsor a child model search. Parents are encouraged to enter a photo of their child ages infant-8 years old with a description of how the outfit in the picture describes their child’s unique personality. Contest entrants will need to visit www.acaramiamagazine.com for entry details. They can also drop off a photo with a brief description to Jean et Marie in San Francisco at 1775 Union St.

“When we starting spreading the word about the launch of the magazine, we received an overwhelming number of people who wanted their children to be featured as models,” said Crystal Barb, co-founder of Acara Mia Magazine. “Fashion is more than just clothing; it’s a creative expression and a celebration of the individual. The Acara Mia/Jean et Marie Model Search is a way for our members to get involved in the magazine and demonstrate their child’s personal style.”
